Our Team

Our health ministry team is led by our Faith Community Nurse, Mel Miller, BSN, RN and Kettering Adventist Church is a partnering congregation of the Kettering Health Network Faith Community Nursing & Health Ministry Program. Our team is composed of church members who are interested in enhancing the health of our congregation and bringing life abundant to our faith community as well as our larger community. It is not necessary for all members of the health ministry team to be health professionals as we value the variety of gifts that every member brings to this ministry.

Mel Miller, BSN, RN

Mel Miller is a registered nurse who works full-time at the Sycamore Emergency Department. Mel has received additional training for the specialty practice of Faith Community Nursing and has served as the Faith Community Nurse for the Kettering Adventist Church since 2004.

David Small, MD
David is a retired general surgeon. He has served on our health ministry team for several years sharing his wealth of knowledge and love for God to those who desire a healthier life.

Sharon Greene, RN
Sharon is a registered nurse working for Kettering Medical Center.

Kris Mangan, NP, RN
Kris has varied nursing experience especially in the area of hospice care. She organizes and leads the monthly blood pressure screenings.

Richa Stevens, BSN, MPH, RN
Richa is a registered nurse who also has a master's degree in Public Health. Richa serves as a chaplain for Kettering Medical Center and as a part-time nursing instructor for Kettering College of Medical Arts and phone consultant for Ministry Care Line.

Cleta Nelson, MSN, RN
Cleta is a retired registered nurse.

Don Schwerin
Don is our computer expert and leads in the planning for our annual blood drive.

Brian Smith, BA, MPH
Brian is a phlebotomist and has a masters in public health.

Chris VanDenburgh, BSN, RN
Chris is a registered nurse and the Coordinator of Faith Community Nursing & Health Ministry for the Kettering Health Network. She also serves as a faculty member for the International Parish Nurse Resource Center's Parish Nurse Basic Preparation Course and as a mentor to BSN students from KCMA and Cedarville University.
